Italian Renaissance Costume
In my Applications of Costuming class at SCAD I learned valuable pattern making skills. For a project I drafted a garment of my own design to fit my measurements. I decided to create a 15th Century costume made of a gamurra, a gown worn during the Italian Renaissance over a camicia. I researched historical fashion before creating my own pattern. I made a mock-up out of muslin before building the final garment. There were several layers of lining and trim on the outer garment. I inserted grommets on the bodice front and sleeves so they could be laced. I staged a photoshoot of the costume on the SCAD backlot where I wore a wig of my design and styling. For a full look at all my steps of this project look at the presentation below.
