Makeup Workshop
I had the opportunity to take part in a workshop run by profession makeup expert Craig Hamilton. One makeup project we did was a full face of creame makeup. I learned to work with this new make up material which has a unique texture that take more effort and concentration to apply. For my unique design I turned my model into a troll princess. I started by blocking out the colors on her face and gradually building them up. I used small sponges and brushes to get a leafy texture around the edge of her face and eyes. The striking black eyeliner and red lips make for a strong contrast. The subtle color grading worked out very well and flecks of gold added a fantastical element to her look. In addition to practicing different application techniques the workshop practiced proper makeup hygiene and clean up.

Another area of makeup Craig Hamilton covered in his workshops was prosthetic application. Using a latex prosthetic I made a model look like she had a scar. I learned the proper steps using Pros-Aide to adhere it and removing the edges so it was smooth with a mixture of acetone and isopropyl alcohol. Then we colored it with a water activated skin tone makeup kit. On top of that I used some fake blood, the type that looks dark like scabbing and a more red liquid one. Using different brushes and flicking one across the skin I got a nice texture of agitated skin. The wound looked very disturbing as if it was bleeding. It was a exciting experience learning more about special effects makeup.
